Another year has passed and with that another anniversary of our beloved NSSA. January 7, 2019 heralded a year of wonderful collaboration with our awesome students. As in the past, we have continued growing with the usual support of our staff, students, supporters and Viki’s Community Team. We are extremely grateful for all that you have done throughout those past 6 years – you are truly wonderful! THANK you!
So, what’s been happening since our 5th anniversary on January 7, 2019?
In February 2019, we held our 5th anniversary celebration, which also commemorated our 8th meet and greet since our founding.
In March of 2019, we were amazed and excited to celebrate the graduation of 400 graduates from the Academy! We were also thankfully able to expand into offering the French Subbing Academy, which many students looked forward to. Even more amazingly, 140 students have already applied for this program and 12 of those students have graduated!
January 2020 came and went and we have yet to celebrate the 6th anniversary, but as the saying goes, better late than never! We will be hosting our 9th meet and greet, which also serves as our mini anniversary celebrations, on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 12 noon PST.
In April 2020, we expanded the Academy to also include the Italian Subbing Academy! Then, in May 2020, we undertook the task of updating all our NSSA created badges for the sake of consistency across the Academy. This resulted in the retirement of our initial, long-beloved badges, which were designed by Dudie.
By June 2020, we gratefully and amazingly received over 4500 applications between the Segmenting and the Subtitling programs. And by the end of July, we have had 463 full graduates from the Academy with many more who have successfully completed the Sandbox program!
