But before jumping into that, we want to mention that depending on what's going on each month at NSSA, it may be possible to skip/combine some months if nothing is notable for a single-month update article. Don't worry, the NSSA team is still active every day through its Segging and Subbing divisions.😉
🎓 JANUARY 2025
As you know, the end of the year is always a festive one with Christmas and New Year happening all around the globe. To enjoy this winter holiday period as much as possible, most of the contributors were busy with their lives outside Viki.
But despite this, we still have something worth mentioning for January: at the end of the month, we resumed the founding procedure for EEA.
🎓 FEBRUARY 2025
This was a full power mode month, with many things happening one after another; and we don't stop here. 🤪 So let's see a resume of what happened in February at NSSA:
- For the first time, the EEA team received a sample of the EEA collection badges made by Viki. These badges will be granted to all those who graduated from the TE/GE/CE programs and you can take a look at them below. These badges will be requested from Viki by the Subbing Division moderator based on the program results from the EEA senseis.
- As we mentioned in the January section, the EEA team resumed their founding activity and we already asked Viki for training channels to be used in the Japanese and Chinese TE programs. Meanwhile, the GE-CE team is working hard to create the mentoring path and documentation for the GE program. The Korean TE team is also almost done with creating the sign-up form and the mentoring path with everything that's needed.
- We started our first collaborative quiz with the biggest Discord server for all Viki contributors: Viki Contributor Community, aka VCC. Each week we post a Viki-related question on a dedicated channel from the VCC server and all the contributors there can answer the questions. At the end of each week, we will collect the answers of those who want this in a weekly Q&A article to be posted on this blog. We hope that through this little quiz, we can show everyone a little portion of being a Viki contributor. And, why not, maybe we will manage to increase the interest in NSSA among those who are thinking of becoming volunteers at Viki.
- We announced the preparation for resuming the NSSA blog after a very long pause and that we are looking for writers to bring to life the blog with a variety of topics. We are glad to have on our team as writers these Viki contributors: dimghro, bjohnsonwong, shraddhasingh, thaly1209, nsiya2023, trangstar888, xiaofengcanyue, rumblenzo. They are already working on many interesting topics.😉
- We started to post the first articles containing a variety of information and updates from NSSA.
- We made our first supportive topic on the Discussions Forum, the official Viki forum, by kindly asking all the Channel Managers and Other Language Moderators to redirect all the new contributors to their Language Subbing Academy. More to be found HERE.
- We opened our official Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/nssaonvikiofficial. We can also be found on Instagram, X, and YouTube.
- The new Segging Academy program, which now includes working with presubs, is up and running. We would like to thank stariz who was so instrumental in setting up our system to keep track of our records. She was such an important part of our transition. She is leaving NSSA for now and it'll take two to replace her. grace_g and maria_lavendula_77 are now taking over assigning the Levels. grace_g is assigning Levels 1 & 2 and maria_lavendula_77 is now doing assigning for Levels 3-5. We' like to thank them for stepping and helping out. We've also gotten two new Final Panelists, baepsae29 and manganese . Thanks to both of them for their help. 🥰
